Two in court over violence at house party in Maesbrook

Two men have appeared in court charged with violent disorder at a house party that was allegedly gatecrashed.

About 50 people were invited to the party in Maesbrook, Shropshire, last December but trouble broke out when a group of 10 men arrived.

Huw Glyn Jones, 19, of Orchard Green, Llanymynech, Powys, and Stafford Jones, 19, of Llanidloes Road, Newtown, Powys appeared before Shrewsbury magistrates.

They are due at Shrewsbury Crown Court on Monday along with eight other men.

Neither of the two in court on Thursday entered a plea.

The eight other men - aged from 18 to 22 - are all charged with violent disorder and one has also been charged with possessing an offensive weapon and dangerous driving.

Damage to the house and to several cars ran into thousands of pounds, West Mercia Police said.
