Ben Bebbington: Two sentenced to life for busker murder

Two men have been sentenced to life for murdering a busker who was found injured on a canal towpath.

Ben Bebbington, 43, was found in Ditherington in September and died after suffering head injuries.

Stewart Doran, 22, of Bainbridge Green, Shrewsbury, who pleaded guilty in December, must serve a minimum of 16 years before parole is considered.

Bradley Davies, 18, of Westering, in Ditherington, must serve a minimum of 14 years before parole is considered.

Kicks to head

Davies, who was found guilty on Wednesday, admitted being involved in the attack, but had blamed Doran.

Birmingham Crown Court heard Mr Bebbington had been found with 36 bruises and cuts in the early hours of 7 September.

A Home Office pathologist said he died from acute bleeding on the brain caused by a number of kicks to his head and face.

Four others were also found guilty of attempting to pervert the course of justice, including Davies' 47-year-old mother, Janet who has been jailed for two years.

Kayleigh Davies, 25, was given an 18-month prison sentence suspended for two years with unpaid work attached, and Luke Stevens, 27, was jailed for eight months.

A juvenile, who cannot be named, was given a two-year youth rehabilitation order.
