Body found in Shelton in search for Andrew Warren

West Mercia Police Andrew Warren was reported missing by his family on Friday

Police searching for a 50-year-old missing man have found a body.

The discovery was made near to the River Severn at Shelton on Monday. The body has not been formally identified.

It comes after Andrew Warren was reported missing from home in Shrewsbury on Friday after not contacting relatives for a week.

West Mercia Police said it had notified Mr Warren's family and was treating the death as "unexplained". A report has been prepared for the coroner, it said.

An inquest into the death would be opened later this week, once the man had been formally identified, police added.

Mr Warren was last seen on May 17 and police believe he had been living rough in Shrewsbury.
