Pregnant woman in Shropshire attacked by intruders

A pregnant woman and two companions have been attacked by intruders.

The woman and two other women were inside an address in Sutton Hill, Telford, Shropshire, when a number of men and women pushed their way inside.

They demanded money from the three women and assaulted them.

Three men returned home and a fight broke out. A number of people needed treatment for minor injuries and the pregnant woman was admitted to hospital to be monitored.

The incident took place shortly before 00:30 BST on Thursday.

Phones stolen

West Mercia Police said a number of people in dark clothing, and with their faces covered, pushed in through the front door.

"While the intruders were in the house three men returned home and at this point a fight broke out between the men and the intruders," a spokesman said.

"The disorder continued for a short time before the intruders fled the house on foot and made off into Sutton Hill."

Two Blackberry phones were taken. Police are appealing for witnesses.
