Man shot dead in Shropshire rabbit hunting accident

A man has been shot dead in a "tragic accident" while out hunting rabbits with a friend in Shropshire, police have said.

West Mercia Police said a 30-year-old man suffered a gunshot wound in a field in Brockton, near Bishop's Castle, at 21:30 GMT on Friday.

The man, who is thought to be from Staffordshire, has not yet been formally identified.

A post-mortem examination would be carried out on Tuesday, police said.

A force spokesman said: "We are continuing to investigate the circumstances but at this stage it would appear to be a tragic accident."
