Shropshire crash death woman named as Mair Thomas

A woman who died in a crash in Shropshire last weekend has been named by police.

Mair Thomas, 75, from Bayston Hill, Shrewsbury, was a passenger in one of two cars involved in the crash on the A5 at Montford Bridge on 30 March.

She was confirmed dead at the scene. Four other people were injured.

West Mercia Police said the A5 had been busy with Easter traffic and called on anyone who witnessed the "head-on" crash to come forward.

An inquest has been opened and adjourned by Shropshire coroner John Ellery.

Emergency services also treated a man in his seventies and a nine-year-old girl, before they were airlifted to University Hospital North Staffordshire.

A pregnant woman and a six-year-old boy, who were in the other vehicle, were taken to hospitals in Shropshire.
