A Shropshire swimming pool has been awarded £248,667 of lottery money.

The money, from the Sport England New Improvement Fund, will be used to improve the changing rooms at Market Drayton swimming baths.

Charles Johnston, from Sport England, said local people had complained that the poor changing facilities at the pool were putting them off swimming.

"A lot of people say they can't change in private and it's difficult when they take their family along," he said.

He said making improvements to changing rooms was expensive but made "a real difference".

The pool is one of five leisure facilities in the county run by the Shropshire Community Leisure Trust on behalf of Shropshire Council.
