New TV leads in hunt for landlord John Cattermole

A TV appeal to find a pub landlord from Shrewsbury who went missing after being arrested on suspicion of faking a burglary has prompted new leads.

John Cattermole, 54, was held in April 2010, hours after reporting a break-in at the Monkmoor Hotel, which he ran.

He was also held on suspicion of theft and perverting the course of justice. He later failed to turn up for bail.

Officers said they had received "several new leads" after an appeal on Wednesday's BBC1 Crimewatch show.

Police said Mr Cattermole had initially reported £2,800 in cash had been stolen from the pub, along with £1,500 worth of spirits.

They said he claimed an empty beer keg had been used by intruders to get in through a window.
