Teacher David Timmins jailed for child sex offences

A teacher has been jailed after admitting engaging in sexual activity with a child.

David Timmins, 41, of no fixed abode, was sentenced to two years eight months and barred from working with children for life at Shrewsbury Crown Court.

Timmins admitted three counts, which date from March to September 2012.

The Crown Prosecution Service said he was a respected teacher but nevertheless embarked on a personal relationship with a teenage girl.

Timmins was also put on the sex offenders' register for life.
