Michael Ashton A search failed to find Michael Ashton

A body found in the grounds of a Shropshire college is thought to be that of a man who went missing during the summer.

Michael Ashton, 81, of Church Street, Ellesmere, was reported missing from his home on 8 July.

A body was found close to a pond in a remote part of Ellesmere College's grounds on Sunday.

A West Mercia Police spokesman said the body was believed to be that of Mr Ashton.

The spokesman added Mr Ashton's family had been informed and that police were not looking for anyone else in connection with the death.
