A new supermarket in a Shropshire town will help regenerate the high street, the chamber of trade has claimed.
The Sainsbury's store has opened off London Road, close to the town centre.
It is hoped the shop will provide more than 200 jobs and attract new businesses to the area.
Whitchurch Chamber of Trade said it would "like to think this is the beginning of hopefully more businesses coming here".
Simon Lyon, from the chamber, said: "We're surrounded by many big towns, Chester, Wrexham, Shrewsbury, Telford and so on. So to get a good choice of shopping people have often had to leave our town and go off elsewhere."
Malcolm Donley, chairman of the Whitchurch 21 group of local businesses, said he hoped the supermarket would "increase footfall on the high street and improve trade in our independent stores".
