Murder inquiry launched into canal man's death in Shropshire

A man found critically injured on a canal path in Shropshire has died.

A murder inquiry has been launched and a 40-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the incident, police said.

The man was found just before 01:00 BST between Ditherington Road and Telford Way in Shrewsbury, with a serious head injury, and later died in hospital.

He is thought to be a 43-year-old local man but has yet to be formally identified, police said.

An inquest is due to be opened into the death.
