Body found in Market Drayton field

The body of a man believed to be in his 40s has been found in a field in north Shropshire.

Police said they were called to Berrisford Road, Market Drayton, at 13:00 BST on Thursday after a call from a member of the public.

The man has yet to be formally identified. A post-mortem examination is due to take place later.

West Mercia Police said the death was being treated as unexplained and forensics officers were at the scene.

Berrisford Road has been closed while investigations continue.

Police said the body was found near to where the aqueduct crosses the road.

Det Insp Andy Parsons, who is leading the investigation, appealed for anyone with information on the death to come forward.
