Shrewsbury bus depot opens for Flax Mill redevelopment

Shrewsbury Bus Depot The old depot in Ditherington will be demolished as part of the £30m revamp of the Flax Mill

A £2.5m bus depot has opened in Shrewsbury to pave the way for the regeneration of an 18th Century mill.

It replaces the old Midland Red garage in Ditherington which will be demolished as part of the £30m redevelopment of the Flax Mill site.

In May, the project received initial support in a bid to secure £12.1m from the Heritage Lottery Fund.

The new depot at Battlefield uses recycled rainwater to wash the buses and has a roof covered by grass.
