West Mercia Police employee suspended in data breach probe

A police staff member has been suspended pending inquiries into a possible Data Protection Act breach.

West Mercia Police said following concerns raised by staff members, professional standards officers "have launched a criminal investigation into a possible breach".

It added this was after an incident in June at the force's Control Room North in Shrewsbury.

The force said: "A member of staff has been suspended pending inquiries."
