West Mercia Police's 'green' Market Drayton station opens
A £1.8m "green" police station has been opened in a Shropshire market town.
Market Drayton's Salisbury Road police station was officially opened by North Shropshire MP Owen Paterson.
West Mercia Police said the new building had been built from sustainable materials and had a number of energy efficient features.
The former 1930s station on the same site is due to be demolished. Some of the land at the site is due to be sold to help fund the project.
West Mercia Police said the station was designed to reduce both the force's carbon footprint and its energy bills.
The building's roof is covered with solar panels and plants.
Some of the land at the site is due to be sold to help fund the project.
Built on the site of a former graveyard, the designers have also included a small memorial garden with some of the gravestones, to mark its history.
