A new library and register office have opened in a Shropshire market town as part of an £8.5m revamp.

Based at the Wellington Civic and Leisure Centre, the new facilities include a walled garden for marriage ceremonies and civil partnerships.

Telford and Wrekin Council said the centre would offer a single place to do everything from borrowing a book to registering a birth.

They are based in the leisure centre building, which reopened on 12 March.

The new library includes 19 computers and wireless internet access.

The register office also includes internet links to allow relatives who cannot attend wedding ceremonies to watch online.

Councillor Richard Overton said the building offered "a wide range of facilities at the very heart of Wellington".
