Five men arrested in police burglary sting

Five men were arrested during raids by police investigating burglaries and thefts in Shropshire.

More than 50 officers visited seven homes across Wellington, Arleston, Oakengates, Dawley and Hadley, and four business premises in Shifnal, St Georges and Wellington on Thursday.

The men were arrested for offences including theft, conspiracy to commit burglary, and stealing motor vehicles.

Car parts, computer items and suspected stolen vehicles were seized.

A 38-year-old has since been charged with burglary, handling stolen goods and possession of cannabis, police said.

Three others, aged 23, 31 and 25, have been released on bail pending further inquiries, while a fifth man was released without charge.
