Local talent will appear alongside big names at a new Shropshire music festival on 17-18 September.

Organisers said the Shrewsbury Fields Forever festival at the agricultural showground would feature six arenas.

Headliners include The Charlatans, Fenech Solar, The Sunshine Underground, Chase and Status, Zane Lowe, Kissy Sell Out, and Utah Saints.

The festival also features local artists The Taste, MK Zero, Blindsyde, Like Fires, Talk, and The Endorphins.

A battle of the bands competition will also give other local bands the chance to perform.

Festival promoters Invasion, Planet of the Breaks and Subsoundz said the event would be the biggest of its kind in Shropshire.

Alongside indie, dance is the biggest genre represented, with local DJs booked to perform alongside national names such as Radio 1's Zane Lowe and Kissy Sell Out.

Local music technology students from Shrewsbury College will also be a key part of preparations, helping to run the event.
