Witney hotel to harness river power with Archimedes screw

Guests may not notice the difference, but the people running a West Oxfordshire hotel should see their energy bills fall dramatically next month.

The Old Swan and Minster Mill near Witney is the latest riverside business to take advantage of the free power flowing past its doorstep.

It is installing an Archimedes screw, which should be generating electricity by next month.
