Fallen trees on the line have led to major disruption to train services in Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire.

Chiltern Railways resumed a limited service at 11:15 GMT after clearing 19 trees from its routes, but warned passengers to expect delays.

Train operators across the region experienced disruption this morning as storm-force gales battered the region.

There were also a number of road closures across Oxfordshire because of fallen trees.

Thames Valley Police said on its Twitter feed the bulk of weather-related incidents were trees of varying sizes falling down, mainly on minor roads.

'Sticks and twigs'

Oxfordshire County Council said more than 40 fallen and leaning trees were being dealt with by highways teams. Southern Oxfordshire was the worst affected part of the county.

The first fallen tree was reported at 03:10.
