Multiple casualties as car overturns at M40 Oxford slip road

Five people who were inside a car that crashed into a barrier and overturned have been taken to hospital, one of them in a serious condition.

The incident took place on the M40's northbound exit slip road for Oxford at junction 8A, at about 08:30 BST.

South Central Ambulance Service said it sent five ambulances and a rapid response vehicle to the scene.

It said four of the victims were not seriously harmed, but that the fifth was unconscious and seriously hurt.

Thames Valley Police said the road was closed for an hour as people and vehicles were recovered.
