A new £1.2m bus service linking hospitals and colleges in Oxfordshire has been announced.

The routes will link Water Eaton and Thornhill park and ride sites to hospitals, including John Radcliffe, and University of Oxford campuses.

Oxfordshire County Council said the buses would start running on 23 September, initially for three years.

The scheme is being funded by the Department for Transport's Local Sustainable Transport Fund (LSTF).

Three separate routes will replace current services from Thornhill Park and Ride to Churchill Hospital and from Water Eaton Park and Ride to John Radcliffe Hospital.

The council said the new weekday service, operated by Stagecoach, may in the future be expanded to include Saturdays if there is "sufficient demand".
