Blackbird Leys shooting: Woman in hospital

Crowberry Road, Blackbird Leys Police have begun extra patrols in the area to provide a reassurance to residents

A woman is in hospital after being shot in Oxford.

The woman, in her 40s, was found by paramedics in Crowberry Road, in the Blackbird Leys area, just after 05:00 BST.

She was taken by ambulance to Oxford's John Radcliffe Hospital, where she is in a stable condition.

A 21-year-old man from Oxford has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder, Thames Valley Police said.

Two other men, aged 26 and 40 and also from the city, have been arrested on suspicion of affray.

Witnesses are being urged to come forward and extra police patrols are being carried out in the area to reassure residents.

Det Insp John Turner said: "I would like to reassure the local community that incidents such as these are extremely rare."
