A man has been charged with false imprisonment and possession of a weapon and imitation firearm following a stand-off in Kidlington.

Armed officers were called to a flat by Daniel Rodriguez's former partner at about 03:30 BST on Tuesday.

Police cordoned off the street as they negotiated with the 38-year-old who was inside with the couple's two-year-old twins.

The girls were taken from the house and their father was arrested.

He has appeared at Banbury Magistrates' Court where he was remanded in custody to appear at Oxford Crown Court on 18 July.
