A woman was stabbed to death by her husband after he learnt she had a new boyfriend, a court has been told.

Andrew Parsons, 38, is accused of killing his US-born wife Janee Parsons, 31, in the home they shared in Bicester, Oxfordshire, on 1 December.

Oxford Crown Court heard the mother-of-two died from multiple stab wounds at the property in Lucerne Avenue.

Mr Parsons denies murder. The prosecution alleges the killing was "deliberate and vicious".

The jury heard Mr Parsons was angry because Mrs Parsons was going away with her new boyfriend despite them originally agreeing to stay together until after Christmas.

Transcripts from a dictaphone, which had recorded the alleged attack, were shown to the jury. The prosecution said Mr Parsons had previously taped the recording device to his wife's bed to "snoop" on her.

The trial continues.
