Chipping Norton mosque plans approved by council

Plans to turn a vacant shop into a mosque have been approved.

Muslims in Chipping Norton applied to use the Hitchmans Mews unit as a permanent place to pray.

Objections were received over transport and fire safety, with the town council opposing the plan, but West Oxfordshire District Council granted permission.

Proposer Tahirul Hasan, who is a member of the town council, said local Muslims were "very happy" about the decision and were grateful to councillors.
