Oxford Ice Rink unveils new facilities
New facilities at Oxford's ice rink have been opened as part of a £500,000 investment programme.
The reception area and cafe have been refurbished and a new sound and light system installed at the rink.
General manager John Harris said the work would "generate an income, and bring footfall to Oxford".
British figure skating champion David Richardson and members of local skating schools are taking part in a Christmas show to mark the refurbishment.
The work at the 28-year-old rink on Oxpens Road, which is owned by Oxford City Council, follows the replacement of the refrigeration unit carried out in 2011.
Mr Harris said: "Moving forward there is massive opportunity to develop and bring in new shows."
