University of Oxford and homes back on after power cut
Power has been restored in Oxford after part of the university and about 800 customers were cut off earlier.
Southern Electric said it was caused by a cable fault at 06:00 GMT, around the same time a fire broke out at a sub-station in the University of Oxford.
A spokesperson said: "We can't rule out the two faults being linked."
The firm said engineers had now managed to restore power to all homes and the university's science area in South Parks Road.
It is not yet known how the fire at the university started.
