Bicester murder police continue to question man

A man arrested on suspicion of murder after a woman's body was found at a house in Oxfordshire continues to be questioned by police.

The 38-year-old was detained after the victim was discovered in Bicester, at about 10:30 GMT on Saturday.

Police said they were not looking for anyone else and believe the woman to be 31-year-old Janee Parsons.

She was found at a property in Lucerne Avenue and despite attempts to revive her, she later died in hospital.

Although formal identification is yet to take place, Ms Parsons' next of kin have been informed.

Area Commander Supt Andy Boyd, of Thames Valley Police, said: "The investigation is in the early stages and officers from our Major Crime department are leading the inquiry supported by local officers.

"Such violent crime is very rare in Cherwell and I understand the concern that incidents such as these can cause.

"I would like to offer the reassurance to residents that I can say at this stage that this is not believed to be a random attack and we believe that the victim and the offender knew each other."
