A woman and five children escape fire in Carterton

A woman and five children escaped when a fire broke out on the second floor of their Oxfordshire home.

Firefighters were called to the house in Briary Way, Carterton, at about 10:15 BST after a fire alarm went off and smoke was seen at a window.

All six people had managed to escape before firefighters arrived. They were treated at the scene for the effects of breathing in smoke.

The fire is not being treated as suspicious.
