John Radcliffe Hospital extension gets council backing

Councillors will debate the planned extension in September

Plans to extend John Radcliffe Hospital's main building are set to be approved by Oxford City Council.

Oxford University Hospitals NHS Trust has submitted an application to expand the entrance area on Headley Way.

A new reception area, retail units and waiting areas are also included in the proposal. Access roads to the hospital will also be redesigned.

No objections have been lodged and the application is due to be debated by councillors on 6 September.

The application relates to the main hospital building in the centre of the site and all work will take place on the ground floor of the seven-storey building.

Its aim is to create a single point of entrance for all outpatients, public and staff.
