Vittoria Baker family 'struggling' after Oxford flat death

Policewoman at scene Ms Baker was found at a flat in Oxford city centre

The family of a woman found dead at a flat in Oxford say they are "struggling emotionally" after the death.

The body of Vittoria Baker, 52, was found in Friars Wharf in the city centre by police on 16 August.

In a statement, her family said: "Vittoria was a loving daughter, mother, sister and aunt."

Kauthar Silvera, 29, of Friars Wharf, has been charged with murder and is currently on remand. She is due to enter a plea on 5 November.

'Unimaginable circumstances'

In their statement the family added: "We do not yet know what precipitated the very sudden and tragic events.

"As a family we are still in shock and struggling emotionally as we find ourselves in the most unimaginable circumstances.

"During the ongoing investigations the family wishes to request respect and time to deal with our bereavement privately.

"We thank all our friends for their kind words of comfort and condolences at this very sad time."

A post-mortem examination found that Ms Baker died from a stab wound.
