Motorbike rider dies in crash with car in Oxfordshire

A motorcyclist has died in a crash involving a car in Oxfordshire.

The collision, between a Triumph Thruxton 900 and a Mercedes CLK, happened on the A418 in Wheatley on Sunday evening.

The Triumph rider, believed to be a 56-year-old man from London, was taken to Oxford's John Radcliffe Hospital but pronounced dead on arrival.

He is yet to be formally identified. The Mercedes driver was not seriously hurt, Thames Valley Police said.

Officers said the motorcycle was travelling east along the A418 towards Waterstock from the A40 when it collided with a silver Mercedes CLK travelling west on the same road, near Middle Ground, at about 21:50 BST.

Police are appealing for witnesses.
