Computer glitch stalls Oxfordshire's bus pass renewals

About 1,000 people in Oxfordshire could be left waiting on their new bus pass because of a computer fault.

Oxfordshire County Council took over responsibility for issuing passes from Oxfordshire's five district and city councils in March.

The problems arose when the records were electronically transferred to County Hall.

In a statement, it said no personal details of those affected had been lost - only "corrupted during transfer".

It said it had been "managing the situation since spring on a case by case basis".

About 100,000 people use concessionary bus passes across Oxfordshire - so about 1% of those users are affected.

The county council added the problem "should not recur" because there would be no further data transfers.

It advised bus pass holders not to get in touch unless they had not received a new pass one week prior to the expiry of their existing pass.
