Abingdon fire: Woman's death 'suspicious'

The death of a woman following a fire in Oxfordshire is being treated as suspicious by police.

A woman in her thirties was found at a property in Spey Road, Abingdon, on Friday morning, and taken to the John Radcliffe Hospital where she died.

Det Supt Rob Mason said: "It is not yet clear what has caused the fire or if the fire is the cause of death.

"Until the post-mortem examination has been carried out, we will be treating the death as suspicious."

Police were called to the scene by the fire service at 10:15 BST.

The victim's family has been informed.
