Family denies Crunchy's Rescue animal cruelty charges

Six members of the same family have denied charges relating to animal cruelty in Oxfordshire.

Angela, 43, Peter, 39, Frederick, 80, Robert, 24, Louise, 21, and Kirsty Russell, 19, of Longworth, pleaded not guilty at Oxford Magistrates' Court.

Abigail Mchugh, 19, of Freshbrook, Swindon, and Daniel Bunyan, 23, of The Court, Abingdon, also deny the charges.

The 16 offences relate to an investigation carried out by the RSPCA into Crunchy's Rescue in Longworth.

In January, the police assisted the RSPCA with a three-day operation and removed 29 dogs, 13 horses and a number of chickens, goats, cats, ducks and a cockerel from Crunchy's Rescue centre, where the family lives.

A pre-trial hearing is scheduled for 21 September at Oxford Magistrates' Court.
