Oxford Utd fan Carl Wells jailed for grenade possession

An Oxford United fan has been jailed for taking a smoke grenade to a game.

Carl Wells, 34, of Cherwell Road, Berinsfield, Oxfordshire, was sentenced to two months in prison at Plymouth Magistrates' Court on Wednesday.

He was charged with possession of a Hangar 18 smoke grenade "during a designated sporting event in an area of a designated sport ground".

It happened at the Plymouth Argyle v Oxford Utd match at Home Park, Plymouth, on 21 April.

Wells was also banned from attending football matches for six years.
