Chimney Meadows nature reserve appeal hits target

An appeal to raise £167,000 to buy a piece of grassland in Oxfordshire has met its target more than a week before the deadline.

Berks, Bucks & Oxon Wildlife Trust had six weeks to raise the money to buy the site alongside the Chimney Meadows nature reserve.

It met the target through pledges to an online donation page before the land was put on sale publicly.

The charity now plans to turn the area near Bampton into a wildflower meadow.
