A woman has been charged with murdering a seven-year-old girl in Nottingham.

Kay-Ann Morris, 23, of Beckhampton Road, is due before Nottingham Magistrates' Court on Monday.

She was arrested after the girl's body was found at a house in Beckhampton Road, in Bestwood Park, on Thursday.

Nottinghamshire Police also arrested a 47-year-old man in connection with the death, but he has been released without charge.

A post-mortem examination established the girl's preliminary cause of death to be a head injury. She has not yet been formally identified.
