18 June 2014 Last updated at 21:40 BST

A new report has revealed what changes have been made and what the future holds for high streets in the East Midlands.

The survey by the Association of Town and City Management charts the changes taking place in the region's city centres and town centres.

The survey showed fewer people are going to their local shops while there has been a rise in national supermarkets opening convenience stores and new big chain coffee shops and restaurants opening.

Geeta Pendse reports.
