Elaine Harrison Elaine Harrison was reported missing from her house boat in December

A body found in a Nottingham park has been confirmed as a 59-year-old woman missing for four months.

Elaine Harrison disappeared in December from her house boat at Castle Marina in the city.

A large scale search was undertaken by Nottinghamshire Police helped by her family, friends and hundreds of volunteers.

But on Tuesday, police divers found a body in water at Colwick Park which has been confirmed as Ms Harrison.

Det Insp Mike Allen thanked everyone who helped on behalf of the police and her family.

"The response to both our and the family's appeals for information was overwhelming and the sight of so many posters in people's windows was a clear demonstration of a community united by the desire to find her," he said.

"I am only sorry it has had such a tragic ending and the thoughts of Nottinghamshire Police are with the family at this difficult time."
