A man who stabbed his partner to death at their home in Nottinghamshire has been jailed for life.

Geoffrey Hemming, 52, killed 44-year-old Denise Williamson last July by stabbing her 10 times.

Her body was found in the kitchen of the family home on Hazelwood Drive in Hucknall by her 17-year-old son.

Hemming, who pleaded guilty to her murder on 16 December, was jailed at Nottingham Crown Court for a minimum of 18 years.

Ms Williamson was treated by paramedics at the scene and then taken to hospital but died a short time later.

A Nottinghamshire Police spokesman said: "The judge described Denise's murder as a brutal and unnecessary killing and I would echo that wholeheartedly.

"It has left her family, particularly her 17-year-old son, devastated by her loss."
