Nottinghamshire police officer charged with misconduct

A Nottinghamshire police officer has been charged with four counts of misconduct in a public office.

Det Con Simon Abell, 41, is alleged to have sent sexually explicit text messages and behaved in a sexually inappropriate way towards a woman.

The charges relate to a period between November 2011 and August 2012.

The intelligence officer, based at Sutton-in-Ashfield, has been suspended and bailed. He will appear before magistrates on 28 January.
