Sneinton car crash: Police name students who died

Two students who died when their car crashed into a tree in Nottingham on Tuesday have been named by police.

Janaid Shafiq, 19, from Nottingham, and Abubakr Ahmed, 22, from Peterborough, were driving "in convoy" with another car when the crash happened.

Two men, aged 21 and 24, who were arrested on suspicion of death by dangerous driving, have been bailed.

The students, who were both at Nottingham Trent University, died at the scene in Carlton Road, Sneinton.

They were driving a silver/grey Vauxhall Corsa, which police believe had been driving in convoy with a blue Audi at the time.

The road reopened at about 07:00 GMT on Wednesday after it was closed for forensic examinations.
