Smouldering debris at a Nottinghamshire pub hit by fire is hampering efforts to determine the cause of the blaze.

The roof and first floor of The Bridge Inn in Gamston near West Bridgford were destroyed in the fire on Saturday.

Fire crews were sent back to the scene to damp down on Monday morning, a fire service spokesman said.

Building inspectors have also been called to the property to decide if it should be demolished, a Rushcliffe Borough Council spokesman said.

It is believed the fire started in the kitchen.

No-one was hurt, but the nearby A52 was shut for several hours while firefighters tackled the blaze.

A total of eight fire engines from different parts of Nottinghamshire were called to the fire on Radcliffe Road.
