A 130-year-old antique violin has been stolen from a car in Nottingham.

The German-made instrument was taken from a red Ford Fiesta in Plantin Road in the Sherwood Rise area, on Thursday.

The item is described as plain in appearance and in an oval shaped case lined in red velvet, with a pink luggage label attached to it.

Nottinghamshire Police said the violin was distinctive and made of dark wood. Officers appealed for anyone with information to come forward.
