Two people who died in a crash on the A1 in Nottinghamshire have been named by police.

Zac Payne, 20, of Balby, near Doncaster, and Michael Morris, 48, of Scawthorpe, Doncaster, were killed after the van they were travelling in collided with a lorry.

The collision happened at Claypole, south of Newark, on Wednesday morning.

A lorry and a van carrying gas cylinders caught fire after the crash and smoke covered both carriageways.

The lorry driver was unhurt.

The northbound carriageway was closed for most of the day.
