Kirkby-in-Ashfield attack: Murder inquiry launched
The 70-year-old died following the attack at his home
A murder inquiry is under way, after a man in his 70s died following an attack at his Nottinghamshire home.
Officers said the victim collapsed at his home in Cornerpin Drive, Kirkby-in-Ashfield on Sunday. He was taken to hospital where he later died.
A post-mortem examination was inconclusive, but showed he sustained an aneurism, caused by the assault.
Police said a man in a sleeveless yellow high-visibility jacket, may have been involved in the attack.
Officers described the man as being white, of medium to heavy build, and wearing dark clothing with a black hat or hood.
Det Insp Tony Hayden said: "We are still trying to establish the facts of what happened here, but it seems the victim was attacked in his home by a lone offender."
