Ice and fog warning for Nottinghamshire

Motorists are being warned of the risk of ice and freezing fog on the roads as temperatures drop across Nottinghamshire.

A Met Office yellow warning remains in place, with a risk of ice on untreated surfaces.

Rail and air services have also been disrupted by adverse weather conditions.

About 200 schools closed on Monday after up to 5cm (2in) of snow fell in parts of the county.

East Midlands Airport was also closed on Monday morning due to poor conditions on the runway, affecting 35 flights.

East Midlands Trains also reported severe delays.

On Tuesday only eight schools in Nottinghamshire remained closed.

East Midlands Ambulance Service said it had seen a huge rise in calls over the past few days and asked people only to dial 999 in a genuine emergency.
